Sustainability
Environmental conservation runs very deep with us. From rivers, to sees, to jungles - we have experienced it all deeply and so much of our identity is bonded to it. Dirty Manners was built on the principle of advocating for the freedom to roam and the restorative effects of nature. We feel dutily bound to do our best to minimize our environmental impact, and this is why we try our best to take naturalistic approach to outdoor clothing where we can.
We are currently partnered with a few environmental organizations that do work around restoring Earth's ecosystems.
Minimizing Waste
Reducing textile waste is a challenge we embrace. By optimizing patterns and upcycling off-cuts into new items like our hang tags, we ensure every piece of fabric finds a new life. We are continuously researching how we can upcycle our textile waste and donate it to support a circular economy.
Material Certifications
Certifications matter. We use fabrics certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), ensuring at least 70% organic fibers and adherence to strict environmental and social standards. We prioritize Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certified fabrics and high-quality deadstock fabrics, sourced from our manufacturing partners and deadstock fabric mills, to minimize waste. Our goal is to use what already exists.
Biomaterials
We are constantly searching for groundbreaking biomaterials that redefine textile innovation. Our Recovery Collection, features Skin Series textiles, which has been enriched with seaweed bioactives, exemplifies our commitment to this cause—creating clothing that nurtures your skin and enhances well-being.
Our production
As a Singapore-based brand, it was important to manufacture as close to home as possible. We only work with ethical, accredited family-run garment workers in Hong Kong and Thailand. We visit our manufacturers at least twice a year. Each factory specializes in sustainable practices, reducing waste, and helping us ensure top quality in our pieces by utilizing their leftover materials for our collections.
Our packaging
We ship orders in recycled cardboard sourced locally in Singapore. Our stickers are made from 100% biocellulose and are fully biodegradable, leaving no microplastic waste behind. Each package is wrapped in FSC-certified paper printed with soy-based ink, and is acid, sulfur, and lignin-free. All packaging is compostable, recyclable, and made from recycled materials.
Our future plans
We are always looking ahead, striving to innovate and improve our sustainability practices. Our commitment to reducing waste extends beyond production. We’re excited to collaborate with emerging designers to explore new plant-based and biodegradable materials. Additionally, we are developing buy-back programs to extend the lifecycle of our garments, ensuring they stay out of landfills. By continually pushing the boundaries of sustainable fashion, we aim to set new standards for the industry and inspire others to join us on this journey. Stay tuned for more initiatives that prioritize the planet and promote a circular economy.
